Marta Hirniak Voyevidka, born in Stanislaviv (currently Ivano-Frankivsk), Ukraine, immigrated with her family to the U.S. in 1949, settling in Ohio. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art (Diploma, 1962), and received BS Ed. and MA degrees from Kent State University (1964, 1967). Voyevidka held a Kent State Teacher Assistantship 1964-1965 and did postgraduate studies at the Angewandte Kunst Akademie, Vienna (1967- 1968), where she was appointed critique assistant to Prof. Karl Unger and where her work was shown in the Akademie’s centennial exhibition. Voyevidka works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawings, encaustic and figurative bronzes. She has exhibited solo at Kent State University; Lintas Gallery, Vienna; and the Ukrainian Institute of America, New York; and in group shows in the U.S. and Europe, especially numerous exhibitions at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s competitive May Show (1962, 1964, 1965, 1966), winning an award in 1964. She recently exhibited at the Nevada Museum of Art, where she is also an instructor. Her works are found at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Kent State University, and The Ukrainian Museum.
