The Ukrainian Insurgent Army:
A History of Ukraine's Unvanquished Freedom Fighters

October 14 through December 3, 2007

To commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the 100th anniversary of the birth of its commander in chief, Gen. Roman Shukhevych - Taras Chuprynka (July 17, 1907), the Museum is hosting a photographic/archival exhibition entitled The Ukrainian Insurgent Army: A History of Ukraine's Unvanquished Freedom Fighters.

The exhibition, composed of 22 banners containing photographs, captions, and explanatory text, was organized by Lviv's Center to Research the Liberation Movement, headed by Volodymyr Vjatrovych. It is one of a series of events spearheaded by a National Committee formed by the executive boards of the Society of Soldiers of the UPA and the Association for Former Soldiers of the UPA to honor both anniversaries.

The Ukrainian Insurgent Army: A History of Ukraine's Unvanquished Freedom Fighters will be on view from October 14 to December 2. An 80-page color album about the war of liberation waged by the UPA accompanies the exhibition.
