The jewelry and other items of adornment traditionally worn by Ukrainian women is a colorful component of Ukrainian decorative and applied folk art, and, rich in ornamentation and artistry, were a requisite component of traditional folk apparel, especially during the holidays. They have a very long and deeply rooted tradition integrally associated with the evolution of artistic trades, various home industries, and clothing. Their genesis may be traced back to the times when decorative-utilitarian arts were being formulated and shaped by the ancient Slavs.
