The grand opening of the first location for The Ukrainian Museum at 203 Second Avenue (two floors in the headquarters of the Ukrainian National Women's League of America, the Museum's founding organization) took place on October 3, 1976, debuting with its first exhibition of folk art. The first membership meeting took place on June 2, 1977, when Alexandra Riznyk was elected president of the Board of Trustees. Elections have been held mid-year ever since then.
